#irish4yes to a VOICE in your own country

"A Proposed Law: to alter the Constitution to recognise the First Peoples of Australia
by establishing an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice.
Do you approve this proposed alteration?"

Who asked for this referendum?
@brado87 I have been asked my friends a few time about the Voice to Parliament. Instead of having separate conversations, I thought this might save some time! Here is a 5min explanation of what it is we are being asked in the upcoming referendum. UPDATE: See Part 2 responding to some of the key questions and comments @Braden Hill #voice #voicetoparliament #aboriginaltiktok #auspol ♬ original sound - Braden Hill
What impacts could the voice referendum have on healthcare for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people?
What changes will the constitution have as a result of the voice referendum?
Could the voice referendum create unity in our community?

Why Vote Yes?

This is the Question being asked if we agree to:
“A Proposed Law: to alter the Constitution to recognise the First Peoples of Australia by establishing an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice” – that may make representations to the Parliament and the Executive Government of the Commonwealth on matters relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

When we listen to people about the decisions that affect them, we get better results. For the past 250 years, we haven’t properly listened to the people who have been here for 65,000. It’s time we did.

🍀 Recognising 65,000 years of Indigenous culture for the first time in Australia’s 122-year-old constitution.

🍀 Listening to advice from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people about matters that affect their lives, so governments make better decisions.

🍀 Better Results for Indigenous health, education, employment and housing, so people have a better life.

🍀 Protecting the Voice from politics and bureaucrats by putting it in the constitution.

🍀 Over 80% of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community support the Voice. It has been designed and agreed on by Indigenous leaders over many decades.

🍀 When the Irish arrived in Australia in the early days of settlement the majority were in dire straights – Famine victims, penal system victims and without status – and the majority would have been shunned by the Australian colonial “Establishment” – and were forced too to dwell on the fringes of the cities – and lived among the First Nation people of Australia, had families together and shared Culture, stories, songs and because of the help and support of the Aboriginal people – survived.

Now the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people need the help and support of the Irish – to use our connections across the world to influence everyone we know of voting age in Australia to vote YES in the upcoming Australian Referendum – to give the First Nation people “…a VOICE in their own Country”!

We Irish are a decent people.

To vote YES is the decent thing to do.

It was not that long ago we did not have the power and respect of a VOICE in our own Country.

Let us Irish repay the First Nation people – Let us invite our friends to Rise Up & Vote Yes! – and change the FUTURE for the First Nation People of Australia!

If you or someone you know is eligible to vote but will not be in Australia on Oct 14 2023 – you can still vote: https://www.aec.gov.au/referendums/vote/overseas-voting-locations.html
