KIDOGO ARTHOUSE

FREMANTLE, WA

ABOUT

Located in a magnificent 19th century building on Bathers Beach, Kidogo Arthouse hosts a wide array of unique music and art experiences. Kidogo – meaning “little” in Swahili – is a small venue with powerful historical significance and a grand, palpable soul that touches everyone who visits the building.

MUSIC EXPERIENCES AT KIDOGO

Kidogo Arthouse events are created for artists, by artists and create increasingly rare opportunity for musicians to truly connect with their audience. While many of the events include a licensed bar and food experiences, the service areas are always kept separate from the performance area to minimize distractions and allow the musicians and patrons to fully immerse themselves in the live music experience. The venue is known to have the best listening audience in Western Australia.

“We pride ourselves in giving our small audiences and the artist, an unforgettable experience that cannot be replicated in bigger spaces or in more commercial venues. It is a way for even the most recognised stadium touring artists to have that raw, intimate connection with their audience, if they choose to.”

UNIQUE ACOUSTICS

The building is a majestic 1884 heritage listed limestone construction with a beautiful courtyard and deck overlooking Bathers Beach. The limestone gallery has some of the best acoustics in WA with the added bonus of the sound of the waves crashing over bathers beach just outside.

The space is often transformed to adapt the look and feel of the season’s events, adding variety to the existing atmosphere of the building. The venue has long been a favourite amongst local artists and is on its way becoming an icon of the WA music scene, with an increasing number of coveted international and local musicians performing at the venue.

Kidogo Arthouse- it’s History, the Art, the vibe, the staff & caliber of Musicians alone, make this by far my favourite venue in Fremantle. Magical sunsets, the train that passes by, the people, “home-cooked”meals on the deck while sipping wine, the sense of community.. Joanna’s love of bringing people together, especially in these times… hands down makes Kidogo Arthouse, the best venue.

Joanna ,you are a joy and such a deep breath of fresh air, thank you so much for your vision you integrity and your trueness to art and culture, so grounding and inspiring to be around. I was observing last night the similarity of energy in both crowds ,even though the room was transformed and refilled with different souls, the beautiful energy in the room was a constant. That’s a rare and wonderful thing. Once again ,go raibh mile Maith agat , Slan agus baneacht.

We really had a great experience and thanks to you, Bryan and the team for your hospitality. From start to finish, we wanted for nothing and felt very welcome in your most special venue. In particular, thanks for the extra hospitality you showed to Donough, Kevin and Fiona. They were our guests on the night and you treated them so well. I am sure that their contribution embellished our show to no end.

If you have any further use for some Irish music at Kidogo in the future, we’d be delighted to come back and try to top our last performance. We were stoked to be considered. You asked for a “party-vibe” and that’s something that we pride ourselves in being able to deliver, with wee elements of musical magic dotted throughout.

Have a great New Years and we hope to work together again in 2021.
