IRISH SEANCHOICHE

@ KIDOGO ARTHOUSE

What is an Irish Seanchoíche?

Pronounced “SHANNA – KEY – A”

“Seanchoíche” is an Irish word meaning “story night” or “storyteller night”. It is a portmanteau of “seanchaí,” which means “storyteller” in Irish, and “oíche,” which means “night”. Seanchoíche events are safe spaces where people share personal anecdotes, monologues, fictional narratives, poetry, or spoken word, creating a connection through the shared experience of storytelling.

In Collaboration with SEANCHOÍCHE , Kidogo Arthouse hosts nights for people to come and listen and engage with spoken stories, ranging from personal anecdotes, prose, monologues, fictional narratives and anything in between.

Stories will be revolving around the very broad theme of IDENTITY —how we see ourselves, how the world sees us, and the moments that shape who we are. From name changes to cultural clashes, coming out to coming home, this storytelling night invites voices from all walks of life to share the journeys, questions, and revelations that define them. Come for the stories, stay for the connection.
