There will be a rare opportunity to view contemporary mosaics when members of the WA branch of the Mosaic Association MAANZ holds its inaugural exhibition.

Mosaics are no longer restricted to being adornments for floors, walls and ceilings in grand buildings or places of worship. Today, mosaics can be seen in schools, hospitals, on public footpaths and even toilet blocks as part of a growing trend towards community and public art. The artists have taken a tradition going back 5000 years and using modern and repurposed materials created an exhibition of very diverse and contemporary mosaic works.

The exhibition at Kidogo Gallery, Bathers Beach, Fremantle will feature more than 50 works by 24 local MAANZ members. All works will be for sale. During the exhibition MAANZ members will be working on mosaics and demonstrating their skills and be available to discuss their passion with interested visitors to the gallery. On Saturday 24 November between 5.00 and 7.00pm there will be an additional opportunity to meet some of the artists and hear about their work. Entry is free.
